  • Easy access from many major Western cities, easy to fly to
  • Available May through June 17
  • 81 miles downriver in just four days! You’ll see and experience so much.

Rafting early season (May and June) has a lot of advantages. The river is both quieter and busier – in the best ways. You’ll encounter fewer other people on the river, but Hells Canyon is buzzing with the new life of Spring. The canyon walls come alive with bright green, the colorful spring flowers abound, and another generation of baby animals are finding their footing (or their flying) with mom and dad. We often see families of bighorn sheep, mountain goats, elk, merganser ducks and Canada geese.

And here’s the best part: the 81-mile Hells Canyon river trip is normally a 5-day trip the rest of the season, but from May through June 17th it is just a 4-day trip. The higher water from Spring snowmelt allows us to move downriver at greater speeds. You’ll still have plenty of time for all the extras though, like fishing, side hikes, viewing historical sites and relaxing at camp.  With a 4-day trip, you can fit this excursion into a long weekend and without taking as much time away. Now you have no excuse not to join us!

We always prefer to spend as much time as possible playing in Hells Canyon, so if you ask us, we’d be happy with a month on the river! But we understand this shorter trip makes it easier for you to get away. If it’s a matter of choosing between a 4-day river trip or nothing, well – that’s a no-brainer.

The higher water doesn’t necessarily mean that the rapids are big and scary, though. With spring runoff, some of the whitewater is a bit bigger while some of it is actually smaller or easier to navigate when rocks get covered up. The Hells Canyon trip is the perfect family trip and has a minimum age of 7-10, depending on water levels.

This special Spring trip is only available May through June 17th and availability is limited. These trips fill up quickly, so now is the time to make your reservation. Wondering about the cancellation policy and/or COVID-19? Read all about our policy here.
